Date Night In — His & Her Essential Oils

Love is in the air, and we can’t decide if that’s because there’s less daylight and it’s cold outside or if it’s because the calendar, stores, and commercials are all conditioning us for Valentine’s Day? At any rate - who cares?! We’re going with it! 

Verick and I often get asked what oils we like to wear, and sometimes people are bold enough to ask us more pointed questions like, “What oils do you like to wear for date night?” If they’re feeling extra brazen, they may ask, “Do those oils for the bedroom really work like people say they do?” I can’t blame them. It does seem a little too good to be true that using oils could in some way help enhance your love life. But despite it being a little strange to talk about in mixed company, we’ve decided to share a few of our secrets right here on the web. Yep! We’re going there. But no worries, we’ll keep it PG. 

Men and women are created with beautifully unique characteristics, and one thing we learned a few years into our venture was that essential oils can be used to enhance and support both males and females in unique ways. 

Oils for him that she’ll LOVE:

Shutran Essential Oil

Shutran is one of Verick’s favorites, and I’ll never forget when Gary Young, the beloved late founder of YL, came out with the blend. All the men were excited to have their very own oil customized for them. Excitement hit the internet with memes, t-shirts, and praises from the men of Young Living who were proud to wear and share about their oil. The ladies melted over the scent of their Shutran men, and a whole product line was created. They say it stimulates feelings of masculinity and confidence for men, but I really think it was specially formulated to be a magnet for women! My hubby uses it topically as a cologne, but he also uses many of the Shutran products for men, including shave cream, aftershave, bar soap, beard oil, and body wash!

Valor Essential Oil

Valor was one of the first oils I tried on my man to help him have a more restful night sleep. Let’s just say a certain rumor of applying Valor to the big toe spiked my curiousity enough to try it with him before bed. All I can say is, however it works, I don’t care. As long as it works! I want to caution you though, this is not a solution to problems such as needing to lose weight or sleep apnea. However, if getting an extra good night’s sleep or quieting a noisy sleeper is what you’re in search for, this oil will promote calming and restorative sleep FOR ALL! Valor has also been dubbed as “the unicorn oil” as it’s a unique blend that may promote feelings of confidence and stability. This blend can be diffused for a balancing and grounding aroma in the middle of a challenging day or to promote courage before presentations, meetings, or tests. It can just as effectively be used at the end of the day for calming and relaxing. That’s the mystique of valor and its endless uses!

Northern Lights Black Spruce

Woodsy with a slightly sweet undertone. Earthy, yet not pungent. Spruce draws women and men alike, and has been known to be an attractant oil. Men like it for the strong and confident feelings it promotes. Women like their men to wear it, and they love to diffuse it. It’s a win win. Plus, Young Living’s very own Northern Lights Farm produces the Black Spruce that has become mine and my hubby’s favorite.

Cedarwood

Have you ever stood in a Cedar forest, opened a Cedar chest, or smelled Young Living’s Cedarwood Oil? If so, you know what I mean when I say that it is full on delight. Not only does it ground you, but it also promotes relaxation and creativity – both things more couples could use in the bedroom. Right?

Ylang Ylang Essential Oil

Ylang Ylang is a sweet, floral, balancing oil that can be worn as a natural perfume or diffused to create a romantic, peaceful atmosphere. I have had the joy of standing in the Ylang Ylang field on Young Living’s farm in Ecuador. I’ll never forget the sweet aroma mixed with the longing for my man to be there with me experiencing it. On top of Ylang Ylang’s pleasent fragrance, this oil has long been touted for its ability to balance male and female energies. 

White Angelica

This light and airy oil blend is not only a beautiful choice for a distinct perfume that will have him weak in his knees at first whiff, but it’s also extremely calming and settling, making it an easy choice for her. This is one blend I never knew I was missing until I tried it, and I’m so glad I did!

Stress Away Essential Oil Blend

Stress Away is a unique essential oil blend known for it’s “beachy” scent of coconut and vanilla, with a hint of lime.  It can be added to an epsom salt bath or diffused to create a calming and peaceful atmosphere. It can also be used in a massage. Create a getaway at home, and use this blend to cement the memories. 

Increasing Romance through Oils 

It’s amazing that oils can enhance romance and connectedness for couples, right? To create a romantic environment when you are spending time together, try diffusing Joy or Sensation Essential Oil Blends. To connect with physical touch, give each other a massage using Sensation Massage Oil, which incorporates Ylang Ylang, Jasmine, Geranium, and other essential oils. There are many more oils that can benefit couples on top of the ones mentioned here, along with various uses for each, so it’s at this point I am going to pass the torch over to my friend Lucy Libido who is THE BEST at explaining this subject on her website.
